Walking Poles:  These are not ideal for the racing snakes - but then lets face it, that isn't really me is it.  They can provide a 10% reduction in energy use and improve walking and jogging efficiency by 10%.  And apparently they make the 50 mile "dune" day a lot easier.  The only problem is weight.  The lightest are carbon fibre at around 120g for the pair.  If you use them all the time then it is not an issue but I am hoping to run at least some of the way and will want to pack them away.  The best I have found are the raidlight carbon fibre telescopic at £80.  Unless you know of anything better.
